Our History
The history of HMD Trucking began in 1998, when Henry and Daiva Malukas started a company for freight hauling in the Chicago metro area. Even then, Henry and Daiva were thinking strategically and were always on the lookout for new opportunities in the freight transportation market that would benefit the company’s expanding pool of clients and partners. Their vision led to the growth and diversification of the trucking division and the creation of other businesses under the overarching HMD Enterprises brand.
Decades later, the company evolved into a leading provider of top-quality freight transportation services operating across local, national, and international markets. In addition to the core freight hauling business, HMD Trucking also provides freight invoice factoring and freight brokerage services through its HMD Financial and HMD Transport subsidiaries, respectively. Today, the company is an end-to-end supplier of premium services for shippers and carriers alike.

As a transportation brand, we realize the magnitude of the effect that our business operations have on the environment and take every possible step to limit that impact. To reduce our output, we operate a fleet of well-maintained, latest-generation trucks compliant with modern environmental standards and regulations for heavy-duty vehicles. Additionally, we strive to optimize delivery routes to minimize our carbon footprint.
To further raise the efficiency of our environmental policies, we use 30+ CNG-powered trucks for local deliveries, and will keep growing the more environmentally friendly part of our semi truck fleet when our first batch of electric trucks arrive in 2024. The company is committed to adopting new trucking technologies that can potentially reduce emissions for each individual vehicle and across the entire company in general.

Our infatuation with driving and speed led to the creation of HMD Motorsports in 2019. Ever since then, it has played a key role in advancing up-and-coming race car drivers to the NTT INDYCAR SERIES - the top level of North American open-wheel racing. As a development program, HMD Motorsports provides drivers with everything they need to excel, including a high-caliber team of engineers and mechanics, racecraft development, physical and mental fitness training from PitFit, and sponsorship procurement.
In a few short years of competition our drivers have excelled on track, earning countless wins and podium finishes in USF200, USF Pro 2000, and INDY NXT™ by Firestone. Over the past three seasons of INDY NXT™ by Firestone competition, HMD Motorsports has earned one Team Championship, back-to-back Driver Championships, and graduated five drivers to the NTT INDYCAR SERIES.
With plans of continued growth and success, HMD Motorsports will field ten drivers for the 2024 INDY NXT™ by Firestone season.
